The road from promise to fulfillment is not always an easy one. Abram had received great multi-generational promises, but had no prospects of even being able to pass them on to one generation. But when he expresses this uncertainty in Genesis 15, God doesn’t tell him to pipe down. He gives him a crutch for his wobbly faith.
