Cruciformity means conforming to the cross, cross-shaped. Philippians is about leading cruciform lives, conforming to the shape of Philippians 2:6-11, where personal preferences are renounced to serve the greater ends of doing God’s work and serving God’s people. That’s what Jesus did. That’s what Jesus’s people do. Philippians 4 gives five practical ways we can be cruciform people…

  1. Be a coworker, not a competitor (2-5)
  2. Be a pray-er, not a worrier (6-7)
  3. Be a seeker, not a shunner (8-9)
  4. Be a slave of Christ, not circumstances (10-13)
  5. Be a supporter, not a shirker (14-20)
