Who We Are
The Christians in Mt Pleasant, TX regularly study together, pray together, and encourage one another in our walk with the Lord.
We Love, Because He First Loved Us
– 1 John 2:19
Our Beliefs
We believe that the Bible is God’s final and complete will that teaches us everything we need to know (2 Peter 1:23).
We believe that God exists as one God in three distinct persons, also known as the Trinity (Mark 1:9-11).
We believe that salvation comes through faith in God resulting in baptism (Mark 16:16).
We believe in an eternal state for both those who serve God and those who don’t (Matthew 25:31-46).

“Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.” – Acts 14:23

Some Common questions
To help you get to know us better, here’s some common questions we’ve received. You can also email us or call us any time at 903.572.2148 for additional questions.
Because Jesus is our authority, we must do what He taught us. The Bible shows us that the church in the New Testament met on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). Thus, we assemble on that day and perform the. acts that the Bible commands. Likewise, we must not add to or take away from what He has commanded. We don’t have the right to decide to perform acts of worship that have not been commanded.
This includes:
- Singing as a group without instruments (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16),
- Taking the Lord’s Supper every Sunday (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 2:42; 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
- Giving to the church as God has blessed us (1 Corinthians 16:1-3; 2 Corinthians 9:7)
- Studying the Bible together, whether that’s in classes, private studies, or public sermons by our evangelist (Acts 2:42; 20:7).
Before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He told His disciples to “go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark 16:15-16). Therefore, it is necessary for us to have faith in Christ and to be baptized in water in order to be saved.
This same instruction is given elsewhere.
- “Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.” (Acts 2:38)
- “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:4)
Faith is defined as “the certainty of things hoped for, a proof things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1). In other words, faith is a trust in something that we haven’t yet seen or experienced.
But faith is also defined in that same passage as the belief that God is, and that He is a “Rewarder of those that diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). We must not only believe that He’s real, but also, that if we serve Him, there is a reward for us.
It’s this belief that creates a change in our lives. It’s this belief that makes us abandon our old life of sin and turn to Him. Faith is what eventually results in baptism.
Faith is not hollow. James 2 is very clear that faith must be accompanied by action. If not, then that faith doesn’t exist.
